The beginning of a school year is exciting, and overwhelming! Even as a veteran teacher, I feel like I don’t know where to begin. Here’s a stamp sheet for us teachers to have a little fun (and organization) while prepping for the new year.
Copy the image and paste it on a document or download it below. Give yourself a stamp when you complete a task! Challenge a colleague!
So why is PIE the reward?? Back in high school, my friend Chris’ mom was an elementary teacher. I remember that every year, the evening before school started, they went out to get a piece of pie and relax a bit. I love that tradition! So when I was a teacher and was anxious that night before the first day, I would go get pie. So thank you Mrs. Hogue for that great idea.

Thank you!! I was just trying to organize my brain frenzy into a to do list 🙂
Thank you so much for this – it was just what I needed! Everything that’s in my head all in one document. I love your posts – please don’t ever stop!
Oh, you guys just rock! I’m moving to a new district so the easier things can get the better. Thanks for this!
Thanks for this check list! How do I find your Pinterest page?

Enjoy!
I don’t know how I would be able to do anything without your help! Thank you so much for sharing your creativity and hard work with all of us so freely! What a blessing and gift you both are to the community of teachers !
Oh this is beautiful, thank you so much! I am grateful to have a starting point.
Reblogged this on Kate y Justi Teach Spanish and commented:
Justi and I are using this great idea from the Creative Language Class as a competition to start off the school year! We will keep track of each other’s progress, and first one done wins a gift card from the other!
Who is winning?!
I think Justi is… she spent all day at school today and I’m trying to refrain until next week 🙂
I love this – thank you so much 🙂 I had a baby in June and with three other kids to take care of too I was feeling so lost. I’m excited now! Thank you! Will you be posting first day awesomeness soon or review ideas soon? I need some great ideas!! thanks 🙂 🙂
I teach spanish level 2&3. The first couple of months alll we do is review ., this is boring. Do you have any ideas to make reviewing fun?
Thank you
Karen
I suggest to not review. Here’s what review means to students: 1) I don’t remember it from the first time; I must be a failure or 2) I’ve done this before; I’m bored.
Start fresh! There’s a way to “review” within a fresh context. Example: They don’t remember how to describe people. So teach exciting lessons on current famous singers. Then it’s focused on culture, but reviewing descriptions plus so much more (music, instruments, nationalities, singular/plural, etc). It really comes down to having a good daily objective. Also you want to push them to learn something new every day!
Holy cow!> I was just about to ask the same question. On top of being super boring if we let it be, my students in Spanish 3 have a hard time answering/understanding basic questions such as como te llamas? AHHH! This is my first year at the school. What do I do? Start over at Spanish 1 with them?
Remix it. Could you teach it in a more cultural context too? Greetings from different countries?
I believe that any topic can be adjusted for any level. That is the beauty of grading using a proficiency rubric. When I was in a similar situation, (level 3, couldn’t do much) I continued with the curriculum and adjusted it as needed. I tried to never point out what they didn’t know I focused on what they did know and I explained to them what they should work on next. Remember your goal as a teacher, to teach! And their role is to learn. So it is important they walk out feeling like they had a fresh lesson. This would be a good blog post later to get some others’ advice too.
