While my classes learn descriptions I always show the music video “Bonito” by Jarabe de Palo. (Here’s the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxhET61yB1A&ob=av2e ) He wears his famous red shirt with “Bonito” on it and it’s just weird enough that my students always like it. I got the idea to let students make their own shirt to describe themselves from my friend Kara and it’s always a huge hit. So whenever I offer the opportunity for students to do it (in class or sometimes for homework)– they jump on it! Here are a few that were made today!

¡BONITO! Todo me parece bonito. 🙂
just purchased the Bonito activity from TPT and SO excited to do it tomorrow! Thanks again and again for sharing!!!!
Next year in my MS we are taking this idea and running with it. The 7th graders will have something to add about themselves on the front of the shirt only for each chapter (starting with Soy… and going to things like mi clase favorita es.. etc). I will keep their shirts at the end of the year and give them to the 8th grade teacher. The students will decorate the back of the t-shirt with something from each chapter (yo compre joyas en la joyeria, etc.). At the end of the year, we will present them with their t-shirts and a certificate of completion for the MS Spanish Program at their 8th grade graduation.
What did you use to make the tshirts? Special paint or fabric markers? Did you use stencils? Any tips?
I got the fabric paint from Hobby Lobby and the letters were sponges (I can’t remember where I got them). Anything could work though! I want to try stencils and bleach water one day. I like using Pinterest for new ideas.
