Love it! I recognized the “tico” slang “Mae” … I am going to use this as my “start the class video” when we have the goal “I can greet a friend” – Gracias, Kara!
You can use tubechop to edit out the first part and download the section you want as well! If that helps anyone! 🙂 TUBECHOP is great for getting sections of video you want or pieces parts together!
Nice!
This is great! I’m covering this tomorrow, so what a wonderful way to introduce greetings! 🙂 Thank you!
Thanks so much for sharing! Here’s a link to the video on YouTube if it makes it easier for anyone.

I love how one of the scenes is of a Jai Alai player and the court. A nice sliver of culture.
Love it!! Love all the people, the languages, everything! Maybe we can collectively write out the script so we can keep track of the languages used??? I only recognized the French (Ca va?, Bonjour) , Spanish, German (gutenmorgen?) and Portuguese (Oi, Mae) and English of course…
Great idea! Any one recognize others?
I caught Swahili (jambo), Italian? (ciao), Russian (“privyet”/привет), & Arabic (salaam).. awesome video!!
Thanks so much! This fits in well with my Spanish 1 and Cultural Explorations course!! Great timing!!
Hi fellow profesores/profesoras:
I just want to share a video I thought was very helpful in explaining the history of the Spanish language and what exactly the Castilian dialect is. Since showing it, I’ve referenced it often as dialectal discrepancies have arisen. I only wish I had found it earlier in my career.
Enjoy,
Andrea
