I see this in magazines sometimes and can’t help but get sucked into reading about these little things that make a celebrity unique. Random facts like “I drink milk 3 times a day” or “My favorite movie is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” I used this as a sub plan one day last trimester and my students really got into it. It gave them time to be artsy but also to figure out how to say new information to tell about themselves. Only a few just told the most basic info like age and nationality and hair color. Most had obviously looked up new words and told some funky info about themselves! Here are a few that I really liked…
Best part is that I used them this trimester as reading practice for my current students. I know there are errors, but they liked reading and figured out a lot of new info too!
Thanks for the samples! It helps to have a model of want I expect. I think this will make a perfect 1st day review for my new Spanish 3’s on Monday. (I’m at a trimester school and we get new classes on Monday)
I love the samples…I especially like the “take one” LOL…Great way to take random things and make them interesting.
Lovely idea and so nicely done by the students! 🙂
Thanks! I also ask my students if it’s ok that I post their work! They love that others actually get to see it! I’ll let these kids know you liked it!
¡Hola! This is my first year teaching high school, and your blog has been so helpful! Did you have students present their 15 things projects? I recently had students make a visual about their school schedule and classes. I would love to have them present them in some way, but I feel like it might get boring for students just listening to 25 students present their class schedule… Do you guys have any strategies or tips for having students present in small groups?
May I suggest using a “museum” walk? It gets them out of their seats and they don’t have to listen to 25 different class schedules. Display the students work and have the kids walk around and check them out. I always give them 3 Post-Its and, in Spanish, they have to write one thing the like about a project and one thing they didn’t like. They do this for three different projects. The rule is that every project must have 3 post its so that if the one they wanted to do already has 3 they have to do another one.
